Elkins Park resident, Michael Robinson, 22, was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in Montgomery County jail after pleading guilty to two counts of felony robbery that occurred in Cheltenham Township and in Upper Darby Township in 2020. Both robberies were with a BB gun, both were of a Nintendo Switch gaming console, and the suspect utilized the OfferUp app to facilitate the incidents in both cases.

Robinson will begin serving his sentence on Dec. 26. After paroled, Robinson will be required to serve three years of probation.

Essentially, Robinson would lore the victims to meet on the OfferUp app in the guise of purchasing a Nintendo Switch. When the victim arrived at the meeting, Robinson would brandish the BB gun and rob them of the gaming console.

Pennsylvania law dictates that by pleading guilty to the robbery charges, Robinson admits that during the course of committing a theft he threatened with or intentionally put another person in fear of immediate serious bodily injury.
