Dovetail Artisans launches the CO Lab, Grand Opening April 22

When 107A East Glenside Avenue became available on February 1, Rhiannon Punzo of Dovetails Artisans had an idea for the space next door.

She had been holding events within her gift shop, though the space was too cramped to accommodate a large number of people.

Rhiannon and her business partner, Brittany Abel, went to the building’s landlord and worked out a deal to reopen the doorway that existed before the building was subdivided. From there, the CO Lab at Dovetail Artisans came to be.

“It’s a community space for workshops, classes, meetings, pop-up shops, vendor markets, First Friday events with live music, spotlight community artists. The next six weekends are booked. We got the keys just before April 1, so we really hit the ground running,” Rhiannon said.

The “CO” in the name stands for Collaboration and Community.

“We’re finding that it’s something people are looking for. We have a Music & Movement class scheduled, a postpartum class, a cupcake decorating class, a macrame DIY class, a potential guided meditation class. The umbrella is quite large,” she said.

The space’s official Grand Opening is set for April 22, the same day as the Glenside Arts Festival.

“We’re still working out what exactly that’s going to look like, but at the very least people will be able to meet us and meet the new space,” Rhiannon said. “Hopefully it’s going to be great for the community.”
