The Cheltenham Township Police Department announced that officers Kiera Swanson and William Torzon graduated from the Montgomery County Police Academy on Wednesday, June 11.
“Both Officers distinguished themselves during the academically and physically challenging 6-month training program,” the department said in a post. “These new Officers will now complete an additional 120 hours of classroom and practical training with our dedicated team of in-house trainers before they begin their 3 months of field training with experienced Officers before beginning solo patrol.”
The Upper Moreland Police Department announced that officers James Kelly, Michael Reynolds and Tom Lynch graduated as well.
Following their exam, the graduates will report to Upper Moreland police to begin their four-week in-house training, the department said in a post. They will then move on to 12 weeks of additional training with their Field Training Officers in July.

In related news, the Roslyn Fire Company announced that volunteers Kenneth Lawyer and Josh Alyward recently graduated from Abington Senior High School.
“Both these young men are exceptional students. We have proven their ability to keep their grades up while handling additional responsibilities for the Roslyn Fire company,” the company said in a post. “We wish nothing but the best and brightest futures for Kenneth and Josh and look forward to watching them grow as outstanding firefighters for our company.”
