Cheltenham Township to consider abolishing Finance Officer, outsourcing the collection of taxes

The Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners will discuss the possibility of eliminating the township’s tax office during their meeting at Curtis Hall on Wednesday, December 18.

From the agenda:

Consider authorizing advertisement of an Ordinance pursuant to Section 806 of the Cheltenham Township Home Rule Charter entitled, “Termination” to abolish the elected office of Finance Officer and establish alternative means of collecting Township taxes (see attached).

The discussion will be preceded by a public hearing regarding the Final Operating and Capital Budgets for 2025.

The agenda additionally includes the presentation of a Community Service Award to Teryn Dark for her organization of the La Mott Fire Company Community Day Event held on July 27, “which provided an opportunity for families within the community to get to know their local fire company, raising funds for the fire company, and created community engagement,” the agenda said.
