Cheltenham police exceed recruiting goal with 164 applications, Abington police introduce two new officers

The Abington Township Police Department introduced their newest officers, Janelle Hunt, a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote, and Peter Fallon, a graduate of Millis High School in Millis, MA.

Both hires graduated from the Temple University Police Academy on Friday, March 29.

Officer Hunt was with a previous employer for 14 years prior to applying with Abington, officials said. Officer Fallon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from Villanova University.

“On behalf of the men and women of the Abington Township Police Department, congratulations, stay safe and best of luck to all of you!” the department said in a Facebook post.


In related news, the Cheltenham Township Police Department was highlighted by CBS News for recruiting 164 applicants to the force.

The department used a combination of social media, QR codes and strategically placed road signs to meet its goal of 150 applications, CBS News said. The test took place on Saturday, March 30.
