Cheltenham man sentenced in child sexual assault case

Cheltenham resident Christopher M. Matsinger, 49, of the 500 block of East Glenside Avenue, faces a minimum of 12 years and up to 25 years in a state correctional facility after he pleading guilty to felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child under 13, aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16 and endangering the welfare of a child. The incidents occurred over a period of 9 years between 2009 and 2018 in Cheltenham Township and in Delaware.

The victim was a girl who was aged 6 to 15 over the life of the incidents.

Matsinger will also have five years probation after his release as well as a lifetime requirement to report his address to state police under the state’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act. He must undergo a psychosexual evaluation and have zero contact with the victim or anyone else in her family.

As part of the plea agreement, Other charges of rape of a child, indecent assault and corruption of a minor were dismissed.
