Art Pelullo, a 1974 graduate of Cheltenham High School, will be inducted into the Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fame as a member of its 2023 class. 

Art is a promoter and the CEO and President of Banner Promotions. He has promoted more than 200 boxing events worldwide on networks like HBO, ESPN, Fox, Showtime, USA Network, and others. The company has recorded shows on nine domestic television networks and aired in 70+ international countries and territories. 

At Cheltenham High, Art wrestled and was a three-year starter on the football team. Art fondly recalls the 1973 Cheltenham-Abington football game where the Panthers edged the Ghosts, 15-14, before an overflow crowd in Abington. With forty-five seconds left in the game, Art blocked an Abington field goal attempt to preserve the Cheltenham victory.  

“It wasn’t just my greatest moment in sports. Outside of getting married and my children being born, it was the greatest moment of my life,” he said.

Art will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall in South Philly.
