The 29th Empty Bowl Dinner hosted by Arcadia University will take place on Wednesday, November 16 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in Grey Towers Castle.
The evening’s “Empty Bowl” theme is the best part: more than 1,000 ceramic bowls of all shapes, sizes, and colors are created by community members each year, and are used as soup bowls for dinner. The bowls can be taken home to serve as a reminder that for many people around the world, an empty bowl is the reality of their mealtime.
A ticket includes a handcrafted ceramic bowl and all-you-can-eat bread, desserts, drinks, and soup. This year’s choice of soups is broccoli cheddar, tomato bisque, beef chili, and potato, each of which is vegetarian and gluten-free (minus the beef chili, which is gluten-free only). The annual soup menu is donated by area businesses, restaurants, and individuals from Arcadia University and the surrounding community.
The event’s proceeds aid in the fight against hunger and homelessness via the Knights for Nutrition Food Pantry, Philadelphia Rise Against Hunger, and Family Promise of Philadelphia. Since the event’s inception, Arcadia University has raised nearly $150,000 for regional, national, and international organizations.
