Abington’s championship-winning girls flag football team invited to Eagles’ preseason game, will play NJ champs at halftime

Melissa Brizzell, head coach of Abington Senior High School’s girls flag football team, recently told the district’s media department that the Philadelphia Eagles have invited the girls to their preseason game versus the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday, August 24.

According to Brizzell, members of the flag football team will hold the Eagles flag on the field before the game and will play a game against New Jersey’s flag football champions during halftime.

Team members will also receive their championship rings at the game.

In May, the Eagles organization commended the team for winning the Eagles Girls Flag Football Championship. Abington went a perfect 9-0 in their first-ever season as a participant in the Philadelphia Eagles-sponsored league.
