Officer Tom Leahy of the Upper Moreland Police Department was honored on behalf of his retirement after 29 years of service, effective Friday, January 31.
He was honored by the Upper Moreland Township Commissioners with a proclamation to memorialize his career on Monday, February 3.
“Officer Leahy began his law enforcement journey on February 19, 1996. Throughout his career, he diligently served the department as a patrol officer, armorer and abandoned vehicle officer. He was also a member of the Veteran’s Response Team (VRT) and the Major Incident Response Team (MIRT),” the department said in a post.
Officer Leahy also served 23 years of active duty and reserve service as a United State Marine, retiring with the rank of Major.

In related news, Cheltenham Fire Company firefighter Anthony Evans received his ten-year service pin during the company’s meeting on Tuesday, February 4.
