Hatboro police advise business and property owners to take extra precautions ahead of Super Bowl Sunday

The Hatboro Police Department published a notice today advising business and property owners to take extra precautions ahead of the Super Bowl aftermath this Sunday.

“Dating back to the 1970s, Hatboro’s York Road Business District has been known for large celebrations following championship wins of Philadelphia sports franchises,” the department wrote. “While many of those spontaneous events have been largely peaceful, there have been occasions when unruly individuals have engaged in behaviors that have led to property damage.”

Police encourage owners to secure items on the exterior of businesses.

“For example, we recommend removing any moveable items such as sign boards, private trash containers and unsecured furniture from the sidewalks to a location inside your business,” the department wrote.

The department is also planning to place additional officers on duty in the borough’s business district Sunday evening.
