The Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development has awarded Abington Township a grant of $60,000 to go towards materials and some labor for the Abington-Jenkintown Connections project.
The Abington-Jenkintown Connections project, a collaborative effort between Abington Township and Jenkintown Borough, seeks to enhance pedestrian and bicyclist mobility, increase access to community and business assets, and install stormwater facilities throughout Washington Lane, Jenkintown Road, Greenwood Avenue, and Meetinghouse Road.

“This project will create connections between public transit, schools, parks, businesses and neighborhoods, enhancing the safety and recreational opportunities for the areas served,” said Representative Ben Sanchez, whose 153rd Legislative District includes Abington Township. “In addition to improving transportation quality and walkability throughout the area, this project will be improving stormwater management systems to help reduce the impact of potential flooding in our area.”
If approved, the project will begin construction in July of 2021.
