The Abington Township Police Department announced today that Lieutenant Drew Kent (above left) graduated from the FBI National Academy on Thursday, September 4.
Lieutenant Kent is the 10th member in the department’s history to complete the program, officials said.
From the department’s post:
The 295th session consisted of two hundred and ninety-four law enforcement officers and consisted of men and women from forty-nine states and the District of Columbia. The class included twenty-two members of law enforcement agencies from twenty countries, ten members of six military organizations, and four members of federal civilian organizations. A total of 56,434 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935. The National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
By graduating from the National Academy, Lieutenant Kent joins an international fraternity of law enforcement officers who have demonstrated the exceptional leadership, knowledge, and skills required to lead local law enforcement agencies into the future. Lieutenant Kent holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Rowan University, a master’s degree from the University of San Diego in law enforcement and public safety leadership, and he is a graduate of Northwestern’s Command and Leadership program.

“Officer McMenamin is enthusiastic about his new role and looks forward to collaborating with school staff to ensure a safe learning environment while fostering positive relationships with students,” the department said in a post. “He is a former Temple University Police Officer and a 10-year veteran of the Abington Police Department.
