Jonathan David Dell, 25, formerly of Abington Township, was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison for targeting his former neighbors in a gunpoint home invasion robbery in December 2024, The Reporter said.

Dell was convicted in May on charges of robbery, conspiracy, burglary, simple assault, terroristic threats, access device fraud and carrying a firearm without a license.

Dell was arrested by Abington Township police in February 2025. An investigation began after the homeowner reported to police that two suspects approached her at gunpoint and announced a robbery while she was loading items into her car in her driveway. The suspects then forced her into the home where she and her adult son were held at gunpoint.

In August 2025, Jalen Douglas-Smith, 19, of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to the invasion robbery alongside Dell.

Dell and Douglas-Smith allegedly ransacked the home and stole cash, jewelry, electronics, and collectibles. Prior to their departure, they used packing tape to restrain two members of the household and fled in the homeowner’s vehicle. A short time later, the victims freed themselves and called for help. Neither victim was injured, police said.

Dell reportedly knew the family, attended middle school with the male victim, and visited the home when he was a teenager, The Reporter said.
