The W Tavern in Willow Grove is up for sale, ownership expects to stay awhile

The property on which W Tavern 19090 sits went up for sale on November 8.

Bill and Michelle McKeever, who took over 210 York Road in 2021, expect to stay in business for a little while longer.

“I would rather develop it, but I’ll sell it. The game plan would be to knock it all down and put a building in here,” Bill said. “We love this place, but I’m getting old and my kids don’t want to do it.”

The McKeevers converted the family-operated Willow Inn, which had been going strong since 1949, to “elevated bar food with a class of Italian touch”, their website says.

In addition to the bar/restaurant, the 1.5-acre property includes two homes which have been converted to apartments and a small retail building with two stores.

“I think I’ll be here a few years before someone comes in with the right number,” Bill said.

The restauranteurs sold off the Keswick Tavern, a longtime fixture in downtown Glenside, in May. The space underwent months of renovations before officially opening to the public last week.

“We were there for 26 years and did the best we could. Now you got restaurants with multiple owners. They’re going to do great. They’re nice people,” Bill said.
