The Drexel University men’s basketball team is 7-0 in conference and 14-6 overall this season, and an Abington native and a former Cheltenham / Bishop McDevitt High School standout are playing significant roles in the team’s success.
Lucas Monroe, a 6’6″ 2019 graduate of Abington Senior High School, is averaging 5.1 rebounds and 5.8 points per game on 55% shooting so far this year.
A three-time captain at Abington, he helped the Ghosts to three straight District One Class 6A titles and racked up more than 1,100 points during his high school career.
He transferred to Drexel after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania where he played in every game and served two years as captain. He also named Academic All-Ivy his senior year.

Justin Moore (pictured above), a 6’3″ sophomore guard, played two years at Cheltenham High before transferring to Bishop Mcdevitt for one year before its closure. He ended his scholastic career playing career at Archbishop Wood in Warminster.
Moore is averaging 13 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and has racked up 70 assists and 24 steals so far this season.
Horace Simmons, a 6’6″ 2023 graduate of La Salle High School in Wyndmoor, is redshirting for the Dragons this year. He was a four-year starter at multiple positions for the Explorers.
