Yesterday’s wind gusts continued into the night, eventually causing a transformer explosion that knocked out power to much of Jenkintown. The two-hour-plus outage came just before Jenkintown’s Bradley Cooper and his co-star Lady Gaga were to sing their nominated song on last night’s Oscars broadcast.

Driving around Jenkintown last night, the outage darkened homes from Walnut Street down to the train station. Tree branches brought down lines on Florence Street near Greenwood.

According to our Facebook page, residents in Glenside and Cheltenham also experienced disruptions.

According to the National Weather Service, we’ll have a sunny day, but the wind will continue with gusts up to 50 miles per hour.
