The Willow Grove Park Mall announced today that a new Parental Supervision Policy (PSP) will begin on Tuesday, October 1.
Under the policy, visitors under 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian 21 years or older on Monday through Saturday starting at 5:00pm, Sunday starting at 3:00pm or at any other time the policy is in effect.
The policy includes the entire mall and parking lots and garages, mall walkways and any corridor leading to the mall except stores with exterior entrances.
According to management, the goal of the PSP is “to provide a secure and family-friendly shopping environment.”
More specifics below:
- Security personnel are responsible for enforcing this policy and the procedures. Security will begin monitoring those entering the center starting at 5pm Monday through Saturday and at 3pm on Sunday.
- Unescorted youth shopping after 5pm Monday through Saturday and 3pm on Sunday must leave the mall or be joined by a parent or guardian.
- One parent, over 21 years of age, may escort all his/her children. Additionally, one parent or guardian, over 21 years of age, may escort up to four youths, at least one of the youths must be the child of the parent or guardian.
- Parents or guardians are responsible for the actions of the escorted youth.
- Proof of age will be required if the age of the youth and/or parent or legal guardian is not easily determined. Those whose age cannot be determined and who lack identification will be asked to leave the property.
- Acceptable identification is a photo ID from a state agency, school, or employer that shows date of birth.
- Individuals utilizing public or other forms of transportation must schedule their departure time to ensure compliance with the Parental Supervision Policy.
- Individuals in violation of the Willow Grove Park Parental Supervision Policy or the mall Code of Conduct that refuse to leave the mall when requested to do so by mall security officers may be prosecuted for trespassing.
- Youth under 18 working in the mall will be allowed to access without parent or legal guardian, proof of work status will be required, and employees must go directly to place of employment and must leave the mall at the conclusion of their work shift, if after 5pm Monday through Saturday or 3PM on Sunday and/or at any other time the policy is in effect.
- The Willow Grove Park Parental Supervision Policy guidelines are posted at all mall entrances.
Dates and time for the Parental Supervision Policy are subject to change by mall management.
The mall additionally released a Code of Conduct, detailed below:
This Code of Conduct is a set of general guidelines for behavior; they are not intended to apply to each and every possible act within the mall. We reserve the right to determine the appropriate manner in which all visitors are to behave. All organized activities require review and approval by management/ownership.
Willow Grove Park, including its parking lot, is private property. The following Code of Conduct is set forth for the purpose of protecting legitimate business interests of Willow Grove Park. Any violation of the code interferes with the commercial nature and function of Willow Grove Park. If any guest of Willow Grove Park should refuse to follow this Code of Conduct, the guest will be asked to leave the property. Should any guest fail or refuse to leave the property, he or she may be subject to arrest.
- Willow Grove Park is open for the purpose of shopping. Appropriate shopping behavior is required at all times.
- Fighting, “horseplay,” harassment, offensive language, shouting, loud noise, loitering, littering, solicitation or any other disturbance which disrupts or endangers any patron, guest, merchant, or employee at the shopping center is not permitted under any circumstance.
- Mall management has the right to prohibit groups of four or more individuals to congregate or walk the interior or exterior of the mall unless the group has appropriate adult supervision. Running, skating or skateboarding is not permitted on mall property.
- Appropriate attire, including shirts and shoes, is required. Clothing with inappropriate words, phrases or graphics is not permitted and is subject to mall management approval.
- Excluding attire worn in accord with religious practice, tradition or significance, deliberately obscuring the face is prohibited.
- Damaging any surface or portion of the shopping center is strictly prohibited. Sitting on any surface of the mall other than chairs and benches is prohibited. Food court tables and chairs are provided for the purpose of eating meals purchased at the food court.
- Only service animals, trained to assist persons with disabilities, are permitted within the property.
- The carrying of any weapon, other than by an authorized law enforcement or security officer, is not permitted.
- Vehicles that are inappropriately parked are subject to towing at the expense of the owner. Overnight parking is prohibited.
- Alcoholic beverages and their consumption are permitted in licensed establishments only.
- Smoking is prohibited.
Willow Grove Park reserves the right to amend this Code of Conduct at any time.
