Salvator Martinez, 36, of Upper Moreland Township has been sentenced to prison for the violent domestic assault of his then-girlfriend on February 26.
His sentence of 2.5 to 7 years came after he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of aggravated assault, The Reporter wrote. Martinez also must pay $2,690 in restitution to the victim.
The investigation began when police learned that a female had been dragged by a male across Fitzwatertown Road from the area of Buehler Park. According to a report, the victim eventually broke free and the male ran off.
Arriving officers found the victim standing on the north sidewalk of Fitzwatertown Road “with significant facial injuries and the front of her clothes saturated in blood,” according to the arrest affidavit filed by Upper Moreland Police Officer Kevin John Kramer.
“She further stated Martinez kicked her in her face near her left eye. I observed significant bleeding around her left eye and noted her eye was swollen shut,” Kramer wrote. “I also observed a significant amount of blood had saturated the front of her jacket. (The victim) also stated she lost consciousness during the assault.”
The victim was transported to Abington Jefferson Health for additional treatment. For the full story, you can click here.
