News outlets are shedding additional light on the pop-up car rally that took place early Sunday morning at the Willow Grove Mall. CBS News reported that Bensalem police broke up an unauthorized rally on Saturday night at the Neshaminy Mall, and believe the group of cars went to Willow Grove from there.
Patch reported that Abington investigators believe the incident may be connected to a “H2oi” rally that took place in Wildwood, N.J. in late September. Two people were killed during the N.J. rally.
“We believe there were members of this group who were also in attendance in Wildwood on that weekend,” Abington Chief of Police Patrick Molloy told Patch.
Officials say state police and local municipalities are working on an action plan should similar incidents arise in the future. ABC Action News recently released dashcam footage of police responding to the rally in Willow Grove.
