A greater Glenside resident recently shared an Instagram reel in which Wallace “Wally” Triplett, a La Mott native and a 1945 graduate of Cheltenham High School, was honored by comedian, actor, producer, and writer Keegan-Michael Key during a Penn State football game in December.
Key describes a brief history of how Triplett inspired Penn State’s “WE ARE! PENN STATE” mantra during his time as a Nittany Lion. You can read our previous coverage of the story here.
In September 2024, Triplett became the namesake of a new bar at the Nittany Lion Inn in State College. In 2018, Triplett was inducted into the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame. He’s also in Cheltenham High School’s Hall of Fame and his portrait hangs in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
