Verity Beck to undergo mental health competency evaluation before trial

Verity Beck of Jenkintown will reportedly undergo an in-patient mental health competency evaluation at Norristown State Hospital before she has her initial court hearing.

Beck is charged with the first-degree and third-degree murders of her parents.

According to officials, Beck will be admitted to Norristown’s hospital for up to 60 days. If a physician determines that Beck is mentally competent for her trial, she will return to the county jail and court proceedings will proceed. If she’s determined incompetent, then a competency hearing will be scheduled before a county judge.
