Upper Moreland police announce that the bear situation has been resolved

The Upper Moreland Police Department announced that yesterday’s bear sighting has been resolved.

“A cooperative effort between the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Upper Moreland Police and Fire Departments, led to the safe capture of the bear last evening. The bear was found to be healthy and unharmed and will be relocated,” Upper Moreland Township officials said.

Information provided by residents helped the Game Commission locate the bear in a tree. The male was estimated to be 3 years old and 255 pounds, police said.

The Hatboro Police Department assisted in the capture. Game Commission officials captured the bear around 11:00pm, according to Hatboro officials.
