According to their coverage, upgrades to the mansion include a 10-foot brick wall topped with anti-climb spikes (cost: $14 million), windows in the process of being equipped with bulletproof glass (cost: $8 million), and motion detectors, lighting improvements, and updated cameras throughout the property (cost: $6.3 million). Security upgrades to Shapiro’s private residence include window replacements, landscaping, security system installation, and more.
“All of the security changes made since the mansion fire have been authorized through emergency contracts or discretionary dollars, which do not require the approval of the politically divided General Assembly,” The Inquirer said.
Shapiro spoke about the process at a political conference last week.
“When I had other people to lean on, when I had the ability to talk about what happened, when I had the ability to focus on the healing process, it made me a better governor, a better husband, and a better father to our four children,” Shapiro said.
