Robert Moretti, founder of Moretti Park in Jenkintown, has passed away

Robert “Bob” A. Moretti, longtime resident of Jenkintown Borough and founder of Moretti Park at 435 Cedar Street, passed away on April 2. He was 69 years old.

Mr. Moretti’s son, Jason, posted the following on Facebook:

I wanted to share this sad news about my father Bob who sadly passed away. He loved Jenkintown so much and wanted to ensure a lasting impact on the town by working with the borough to create Cedar Street Moretti Park which was one of his proudest accomplishments. He had so many friends in town I am unable to contact everyone since his passing since everywhere we went he seemed to know someone new to me.

The announcement has brought forth dozens of condolences:

Jason, so sorry for the loss of your dad. Your dad was such a great guy. Keeping you and the entire Morretti family in my prayers.

I’m so sorry for you loss. He was such a nice person. I loved running into him on my way to work when he would be out on his early morning walks.

Bob was a wonderful guy. We were in the same class at JHS. Kind, caring, and lots of fun. We are thankful for the legacy he left in you and also the beautiful park on Cedar for our community to enjoy. Deepest condolences.

Moretti Park was unveiled in May 2022 on the grounds of the Moretti family’s former residence. In 2016, Mr. Moretti offered the property to the borough at a below-market value. He wanted to turn the property into a green space for the community and in honor of his parents, Anthony and Josephine, longtime residents of Jenkintown.
