Roadway to close at Abington Senior High School

The Abington School District has announced that the roadway between Schwarzman Stadium and the gymnasium at Abington Senior High School will be closed to all traffic starting January 22nd and until further notice. The reason is due to the construction taking place on the campus. Below is the full notice:

Dear Abington School District Community,

I write to provide an update regarding the altered traffic patterns along a portion of the Senior High campus which were implemented due to expansion and renovation of the athletic wing. As I notified you in November, closure of the roadway between Schwarzman Stadium and the gymnasium was necessary between the hours of 6:30 AM and 2:30 PM, Mondays through Fridays, with the roadway opened to one-way traffic going uphill (in the direction toward Abington Junior High School) at all other days and times.

In order to allow the construction team to erect scaffolding and move both equipment and materials to the site for the next phase of construction of the new auxiliary gymnasium, it is now necessary to adjust the roadway closure. Beginning Wednesday, January 22, until further notice, the roadway will be closed to all traffic at all times.

We ask that you allow extra time to navigate the campus and/or plan alternate routes accordingly due to this roadway closure, which will remain during weekends as well. Throughout the remainder of the school year, as construction continues, we will communicate any changes as needed.

Please contact Abington Senior High School Principal, Mr. Angelo Berrios, with any questions, and subscribe to our ASHS Additions & Renovations Blog if you would like to be notified of any news or updates related to the construction.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as the Additions and Renovations project continues toward an end result that will benefit every student in the Abington School District.

Regards,

Jeffrey S. Fecher, Ed.D.
