Christopher James Carrington, 35, of the 7200 block of Limekiln Pike, was sentenced to 3½ to 7 years in prison for illegally possessing a firearm, The Pottstown Mercury reported.

An investigation began on April 9, 2025, when Abington police conducted a traffic stop of a Mercedes Benz driven by Carrington. During the stop, police smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and recovered a small amount of marijuana from a passenger in the vehicle.

Police also recovered a plastic bag from the driver’s seat that contained several new and unused small zip top bags commonly used to package crack cocaine, The Mercury said, noting that Carrington admitted to concealing crack cocaine in his underwear during the traffic stop.

After obtaining a warrant to search the vehicle, police found black Ruger 9mm firearm containing one magazine with eleven rounds of 9mm ammunition and one round of 9mm in the chamber. Carrington had a prior record, including a conviction for aggravated assault, which prohibited him from possessing a firearm, The Mercury said.

Carrington pleaded guilty to a felony charge of person not to possess a firearm.
