The Warrington Township Police Department announced the arrest of Jeffrey Stevens Grubbs, 25, of Jenkintown, for stealing a scooter from a Walmart located at 299 Valley Gate Drive.

According to the report, Warrington police responded to the Walmart for a report of a retail theft in progress on Thursday, September 17. Upon arrival, loss prevention reported that a male, later identified as Grubbs, passed all points of sale with a scooter without paying.

A store associate advised Grubbs that he needed to pay for the scooter, but Grubbs instead took the scooter into a restroom, police said.

Officers located Grubbs inside the restroom, where he had removed the scooter from its packaging and was using a knife to begin assembling it. The total value of the stolen merchandise was $221.34.

During a search of Grubbs, officers located a straw with residue in his pants pocket. Officers also found a clear baggie containing a white powdery substance inside a waist pouch.

Grubbs was taken into custody and transported to the police station, where he was processed and interviewed about the theft. During the interview, Grubbs stated that he did not have the money to purchase the scooter and knew while he was inside Walmart that the situation was going to “end bad.”

When officers asked Grubbs if the substance was methamphetamine, he stated that it was.

Grubbs was arraigned by Judge Wertman, who set bail at $25,000 unsecured. His charges are below:
