Police searching for information regarding a shooting at Beaver Hill Condominium Complex in Jenkintown

Jenkintown Borough Chief of Police Thomas Scott shared today the details of a shooting that occurred on Friday, August 16 at approximately 5:48pm.

According to Chief Scott, detectives from the Northampton Township Police Department reported to Jenkintown police on Saturday, August 17 that the shooting’s victim contacted 9-1-1 stating that they had been shot and were travelling to a hospital in Doylestown.

The victim initially declared that the shooting was self-inflicted. An investigation by Northampton police revealed that the incident took place beyond their jurisdiction at the Beaver Hill Condominium Complex (100 West Avenue) in Jenkintown Borough.

The investigation also suggested the incident was not self-inflicted.

Jenkintown officers responded to the Beaver Hill Condominium South Building and determined that the shooting took place in the basement.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Jenkintown Borough Police Department at 215-884-1200.

“Based on the evidence and information obtained this appears to be an isolated domestic violence related incident. There is no threat to the community,” Chief Scott said. “There are no charges filed at this time, and we will update the community if and when charges are filed in this incident.”

Chief Scott went on to note that “domestic violence continues to plague our communities” and that Montgomery County has programs from the Laurel House and the Women’s Center which assist those struggling with traumatic experiences.
