New Rising Sun Cafe, located at the Ardsley Train Station (2617 Jenkintown Road in Glenside), has been going strong for almost a year.

Owner Rob Mooney, an Ambler resident and a Glenside native, took over the location on October 3 after On The Right Track Cafe departed. Mooney said his decision to launch a cafe came after he experienced back problems as a landscaper.

“I worked in the food industry for awhile, and saw that this place was coming available. It seemed manageable enough, so I decided to get the lease and have been trying to make it work ever since,” he said.

Going forward, New Rising Sun Cafe customers can expect barbecue options in addition to their breakfast-centric menu.

“We’re looking to incorporate barbecue on a regular basis. We do ribs upon request. We smoke them up and have them ready for you,” he said. “We have some nice regulars and new people coming in. People seem to like our breakfast options, including our omelets and pancakes.
