In May, Toll Brothers, a Fort Washington-based building company, submitted a land development application for 711 Fox Chase Road, the former site of St. Basil’s Academy Catholic.
The application includes demolishing the existing structures of the former site and constructing a total of 150 age-restricted carriage homes, a clubhouse, and a pool.
Toll Brothers has been in communication with the Township about the property since 2021 when the 90-year-old all-girls high school in Jenkintown shut down for good that spring.
A conditional use hearing for the property was held on Thursday, July 13. According to Abington Township manager Rich Manfredi, the project is in the beginning of the land development process.
“That’s now in the pipeline,” Manfredi said. “They’ve had an ongoing Conditional Use. After that, they go to the board.”
The preliminary land development application went to the Planning Commission on Wednesday, December 20. The agenda can be found here.
