A 72-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car while walking with her husband outside Abington Memorial Hospital at around 1:30am Friday morning.
Police say the woman was using a walker, and that they were not crossing the road at a designated crosswalk. The driver of the striking vehicle, a 40-year-old male from Warminster, stopped, called 911 and rendered aid to the victim. Officials said that no charges are expected.
The identity of the victim has not been released, and her husband was uninjured. Police are still investigating the incident’s circumstances.

On December 23, 2022 at 1:27 am the Abington Police Department responded to a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Old York Road and Woodland Rd. When officers arrived, they located the female victim lying in the southbound lane of Old York Rd with serious injuries. Upon evaluating the victim, officers and ambulance personnel determined that she was deceased. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and took custody of the victim.
The operator of the vehicle that struck the victim remained on location and is cooperating with the investigation. The accident investigation is being conducted by the Abington Township Police Traffic Safety Unit.
