The owner of a Sunoco gas station at 3475 Huntingdon Pike in Huntingdon Valley is seeking zoning relief from Lower Moreland Township in order to convert a former auto shop into a larger version of an existing convenience store.
“The area where the mechanic’s shop used to be still has three garages. Now they’re trying to make it bigger. It’ll have a coffee station, hot dogs, things of that nature,” a Sunoco employee told Glenside Local.
Plans also call for the addition of a 55 sf vestibule and an allowance of 24 parking spaces instead of the required 28.
The convenience store currently offers “basic snacks”, according to the employee.
A potential vote for the requested variance is scheduled on Thursday, August 15 according to the township’s Zoning Hearing Board agenda.
