Laurel Hoffmann, an industrial pattern and sample maker from Oreland, has won the Hometown Media Award for her work at PhillyCAM.
PhillyCAM is a community media center that trains Philadelphians in media production and airs original content on Philadelphia’s public access TV and WPPM 106.5 FM. Laurel created, wrote, and hosted an instructional sewing series called “Creating Fashion with Laurel” which airs Wednesdays at 9:00am.
The award recognizes the best in community media programming. PhillyCAM’s members won awards in seven radio and TV categories at this year’s Awards Ceremony on June 28.

“With 1,000+ entries this year, we are immensely proud of how well PhillyCAM producers did in multiple
categories,” said Gretjen Clausing, Executive Director of PhillyCAM. “It was an incredibly strong year for our WPPM radio programmers and reporters. With the event taking place in Brooklyn, it made it possible for all the awards to be accepted in person, which made the recognition that much sweeter.”
