On Track Fitness of Glenside, located at 105C E Glenside Avenue, began its journey in the back of a chiropractic office over a decade ago.
Greg Schumann, the gym’s longest-standing trainer, took the helm in 2020 and opened a second location in Jenkintown in May 2021. In January, the Jenkintown location moved from 207 York Road to an expanded space at 436 York Road.
The new location is twice the size of the previous space and features two floors, private showers, and a range of upgraded amenities. It also offers personal training, a 24/7 open gym membership, strength and functional training equipment, turf areas, cardio machines, and private changing rooms.



For Schumann, the secret to their expansion has been a focus on kinship and community.
“We’ve really refined what our business model is. We’re leaning toward the idea to become as neighborhood-y as possible,” he said. “We’re looking for people who are in walking distance to us, the polar opposite of the big box gyms. We want small locations that are outfitted really well. I’m a fitness enthusiast, so I try to lay out our equipment as efficiently as possible.”
On Track Fitness has been limiting their memberships to maintain a feeling of closeness among members and staff.
“Our personal training has been really successful. We’ve really found our footing over the past year, and this is something people have really responded to,” Schumann said. “We have six locations and I bet we have 10 clients total that I have yet to speak with in person. It definitely has the mom-and-pop feel where everyone knows everyone. We talk lives, families, fitness, everything.”






Durrell Pratt, area director/personal trainer, has been managing the Glenside location, but will be branching out to manage all of On Track Fitness’ locations, including Graduate Hospital, Rittenhouse, Queen Village, and Passyunk.
