Obituary: Harry Fairfield Bower, Jr. | Freed-Givnish Funeral Home

The obituary below comes from the Freed-Givnish Funeral Home, 124 N Easton Road, Glenside:

Harry Fairfield Bower, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on May 29 at the age of 89.

He was the beloved husband to the late Karen Dooley Bower for 53 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents Harry Bower Sr. and Alice Mason Bower.

Harry leaves behind his son Harry Fairfield Bower, III and his grandson Michael Dooley Bower.

Harry graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. He then became the Vice President of commercial real estate for F.W. Woolworth from 1964-1996. He was an avid beachcomber, sight-seer, traveler and all-around good egg.

Harry once tested his cooking skills by submitted his salsa- infused meatloaf into a competition with Governor Ed Rendell as the guest judge. Not only did Governor Rendell select Harry’s meatloaf to win the whole competition, but he enjoyed so much, he took what remained of the loaf home with him.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Harry’s family on Saturday, June 29 from 9:00am until 10:00am at the Freed-Givnish Funeral Home. His graveside service and interment will follow at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
