The La Mott Fire Company announced that a vehicle struck a house in Cheltenham Township at 3:55am on Thursday, January 1, causing the vehicle and the house to catch fire.
No injuries among firefighters were reported and the house was vacant at the time, officials said.
According to FOX29’s coverage, the house involved (808 Chelten Hills Drive) had previously been marked as an unsafe structure due to foundation issues and has since been boarded up for security.
The driver of the vehicle fled on foot and has not yet been located, FOX29 said. Mutual aid was provided by companies from Cheltenham, Abington, Springfield and Jenkintown, and Rockledge. Cheltenham Township’s EMS, police, and public works assisted as well.
La Mott officials also said that crews were dispatched to a vehicle rescue with entrapment on Church Road at Pardee Lane (Cheltenham Township) at 7:55am. The car was found on its side and the driver was extracted with apparent minor injuries.
Weldon and Cheltenham fire companies assisted with the rescue.
