The Flourtown Fire Company announced that multiple crews responded to a report of a fire at the Springfield Township Middle School at approximately 3:30pm on Wednesday, January 21.

Crews found the fire in the ceiling of the cafeteria and in the HVAC unit and roof above the cafeteria. The flames were extinguished about two hours later, officials said.

Mutual aid was provided by Wyndmoor Hose Company, Oreland Volunteer Fire Company, Glenside Fire Company, and the Community Ambulance Association of Ambler.

The Springfield Township Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, officials said.
