Mt. Carmel Ave Will Be Shut Down for Five Days in September

The Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.SEPTA is scheduled to close Mt. Carmel Avenue between Edge Hill Road and Easton Road in Abington and Cheltenham townships from 9:00 am Monday, September 10, to 7:00 pm Friday, September 14, for track restoration, the Pennsylvania

During construction, Mt. Carmel motorists will be detoured over Edge Hill Road, Jenkintown Road and Easton Road. (see below) Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area.

Westbound Mt. Carmel Avenue traffic will be detoured from the intersection of Mt. Carmel Avenue and Easton Road:
– North on Easton Road to Jenkintown Road.
– West on Jenkintown Road to Edgehill Road.
– South on Edgehill Road to Mt. Carmel Avenue.

Eastbound Mt. Carmel Avenue traffic will be detoured from the intersection of Mt. Carmel Avenue and Edgehill Road:
– North on Edgehill Road to Jenkintown Road.
– East on Jenkintown Road to Easton Road.
– South on Easton Road to Mt. Carmel Avenue.

The reconstruction of the grade crossing will provide a smoother, quieter ride and will include a new surface to the surrounding road, with the removal of cracks and potholes.
