Mrs. Anita T. Conner, Abington grad, Elkins Park resident, cofounder of Jenkintown-based Praise Is The Cure, owner of Anita T. Conner Financial Group, has passed away at 68

Mrs. Anita T. Conner, a Glenside native, Abington High School graduate, resident of Elkins Park (Cheltenham Township), and owner of the Anita T. Conner Financial Group, passed away on Monday, August 4 of complications from breast cancer at Jefferson Abington Hospital. She was 68.

Mrs. Conner was a certified public accountant and financial planner, former adjunct professor of accounting, and cofounder of the Praise Is The Cure breast cancer advocacy group, her obituary said. She earned accounting and tax degrees at Drexel and Philadelphia Universities before founding Anita T. Conner & Associates in 1987.

She also created the George E. Thorne Financial Education Center, named after her father, to provide continuing instruction to clients and others in the community, her obituary said.

Mrs. Conner was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 and went on to cofound the Jenkintown-based nonprofit Praise Is The Cure with her daughter in 2005.

“She was studious, athletic, and captain of the cheerleading squad at Abington High School,” her obituary said.

Visitation with the family was held on the morning of Friday, August 15, at Salem Baptist Church of Abington, 2741 Woodland Ave. Abington, Pa. 19001.
