Former Upper Moreland High School principal has new scholarship dedicated in his name

Mike Daher, a former principal at Upper Moreland High School, has a new scholarship dedicated in his name recognizing his 41-year career in education in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The scholarship will be given through the Kutztown University Foundation.

Daher served as the principal of Upper Moreland High School for roughly a decade, holding the position from around 1997 until his departure in the summer of 2006.

A 1975 graduate Kutztown State College, Daher was a two-year starter in both football and baseball. As Kutztown’s starting quarterback in 1973 and 1974, he played alongside standout running backs Bruce Harper, who went on to star with the New York Jets, and Doug Dennison, who played in the NFL and USFL.

From the announcement:

Mike began his career as a teacher & coach in the Chatham, NJ School District from 1975 to 1986. While at Chatham High, Mike served as Head Football Coach for 4 seasons from 1982 to 1985, leading the Chatham Eskies to a New Jersey Group 1 State Championship in 1984 and a New Jersey Group 1 state playoff appearance in 1983. He also served as Head Baseball Coach from 1979 to 1986, guiding the 1979 team to a New Jersey Group 1 State Championship.

After his time in Chatham, Mike went on to a distinguished career in school administration, holding leadership roles at Perkiomen Valley High School (PA), Wissahickon High School (PA), and Upper Moreland High School (PA), before concluding his career in 2016 as Principal of Hopewell Valley Central High School (NJ).
