Mr. William Anthony Piper, a 1997 graduate of Cheltenham High School, USAF veteran has passed away at 45

Mr. William Anthony Piper, a 1997 graduate of Cheltenham High School, passed away on February 15. He was 45 years old.

Mr. Piper was elected class president where he represented Cheltenham as an ambassador to Hillary Clinton during her visit to the school, his obituary said. An athlete during his Wyncote days, Mr. Piper competed in football, track and field and the pole vault. He went on to Morgan State University and then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a Comptroller in Financial Management.

Mr. Piper later became a business and financial professional in hospitality operations and financial management for over 25 years. He also taught financial literacy courses and lead seminars with the chamber of commerce, Beulah Baptist Church and at public libraries in New York, his obituary said.

“William was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan, the Eagles specifically and proudly exclaimed ‘Go Birds’ at any and every opportunity,” his obituary said. “William was a passionate, intelligent, caring and kind man of integrity who loved to be of service to anyone in need. The outpouring of heartfelt messages his wife and parents have received accurately highlight the truly unique and loving man he was known to be. To know him was to love him, and all who were fortunate enough to encounter him will deeply miss his laughter and light.”

Services will be held from 10:00am – 11:00am on Saturday, March 15 at Batchelor Brothers Funeral Services, located at 7112 N. Broad Street in Philadelphia.
