Mr. Rudolph ‘Ralph’ Franklin, Jenkintown resident, Korean War veteran, and Holocaust survivor, has passed away at 97

Mr. Rudolph “Ralph” Franklin, a resident of Jenkintown, a Korean War veteran, and a Holocaust survivor, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18. He was 97.

Mr. Franklin and his parents fled Nazi Germany and emigrated to Philadelphia in 1941. He earned a degree in accounting from Temple University and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later built a successful insurance business specializing in motorcycles, according to his obituary.

Mr. Franklin was a member of Old York Road Temple-Beth Am in Abington Township.

“As a Holocaust survivor, he shared his experience with students, speaking at many Philadelphia-area high schools. He spread a message of serenity, wisdom, and gratitude wherever he went,” his obituary said.

Services were held today.
