Mr. Richard W. Yost of Blue Bell, a former longtime resident of Glenside, standout athlete at Cheltenham High School, and co-founder of the Philadelphia-based Yost & Tretta law firm, passed away on Tuesday, February 10. He was 71.

Born in Abington, Mr. Yost graduated from Cheltenham High School in 1972 and went on to Drexel University on a dual sports scholarship where he played football and baseball, his obituary said. He later attended the University of Pennsylvania where he played baseball on a full ride scholarship. Following his graduation, he earned his Juris Doctorate from Temple Law School.

Mr. Yost worked for various law firms before becoming partner with Yost & Tretta.

“Rick was well known in the community and was a very well respected attorney, specializing in defense litigation and was recognized numerous times as a Top 100 Lawyer in the Philadelphia region,” his obituary said.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 9:30-10:45 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 2316 Fairhill Ave., Glenside, PA 19038. His interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
