Mr. Perry Rothaus, a 1956 graduate of Cheltenham High School, cancer survivor, and former panelist for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, has passed away at 87

Mr. Perry Rothaus, a 1956 graduate of Cheltenham High School, cancer survivor, and a former panelist for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, passed away on Tuesday, April 21 following a six-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinsonism. He was 87.

Mr. Rothaus went on from Wyncote to graduate from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania before joining his family’s business, Colonial Floor Covering in Elkins Park, where he spent most of his working years, his obituary said.

In 1996, Mr. Rothaus was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and was initially given three months to live.

“The Lance Armstrong Foundation sought him out and invited him and [his wife] Judi to Austin, Texas to be on a panel with Lance and Dr. Sanjay Gupta,” his obituary said. “Following his miraculous recovery, he worked for 10 years as a volunteer at University of Pennsylvania Hospital cheering on other cancer patients, providing hope and support. A service to honor Mr. Rothaus’ life will be held on Friday, April 24th at 12:30 pm promptly at Joseph Levine & Sons Funeral Home located at 1002 W. Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA. Interment to follow at Montefiore Cemetery, 600 Church Road, Jenkintown, PA. Those unable to attend may watch the livestream at www.levinefuneral.com/blue-bell-webcam1.html.
