Montgomery County sees highest one-day Coronavirus case total since early June

Since our last Coronavirus update on October 20th, Montgomery County reports that there were 39 new cases on October 21st, 72 on October 22nd, and 82 on October 23rd. The 82 cases on October 23rd is the highest one day total since 83 cases on June 5th. The 72 cases on October 22nd is the highest one day total since 73 cases on July 24th. The latest cases bring the countywide total since the start of the pandemic to 13,127.

No new deaths were reported. The countywide total since the start of the pandemic continues to be 837.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reports that there are currently 54 patients hospitalized due to Coronavirus as of October 23rd at noon. Four patients require a ventilator. The number of patients is up from 42 on October 20th.

The 14-day PCR Positivity Rate hasn’t been updated on the county’s website since October 15th when it was 2.28%. Having this number below 5% is considered having the virus under control.

Locally, here are the current numbers:

  • Abington is at 922 cases, which is 14 more than since October 20th. There have been 70 deaths
  • Cheltenham is 763 cases, which is six more than since October 20th. There have been 54 deaths
  • Jenkintown is at 43 cases, which is one more than since October 20th. There have been no deaths
  • Springfield is at 681 cases, which is three more than since October 20th. There have been 91 deaths
  • Rockledge is at 27 cases, which is one more than since October 20th. There has been one death
