Meet Dana Mincer, D.O.: Glenside resident, physician, mother, yogi, personal trainer and author

“Dr. Dana” is a Board-Certified Family Practice physician, Glenside mom of two children in the Abington School District, daily yogi, personal trainer, and the author of a recent book.

Dana has hands-on experience in urgent care, weight loss, and outpatient addiction/mental health medicine. She is especially passionate about the science behind positive habit coaching to transform mindsets and lives.

A Media, PA native, Dana played three years of Division I volleyball for Drexel University and graduated from Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland.

She found her calling in medicine during her late twenties.

“After college, I floundered for a while. I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I taught a science and nature camp, took on a variety of jobs, and then decided that I wanted to go to medical school at age 28 with a six-week-old infant,” she said.

Dana went on to graduate from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015 and finished her family practice residency at Lower Bucks Hospital in 2018.

Today you can find Dr. Dana at Urgent Care and American Family Care in Warrington and Southampton, respectively, as well as through Amwell’s telehealth consultations.

“Telehealth is basically a way to treat certain conditions with video and phone consultations. That’s where Amwell comes in. A lot of people’s insurances cover them and it’s easier than going out. You can just log on and talk to a physician,” she said.

Alternative advancements to traditional in-person physician visitations include Tytocare, a tiny device that takes images and audio of the patient’s body, which are then viewable by a physician after uploading a file.

“It can listen to your abdomen, your heartbeat, and your lungs, and it can see your throat, your ears, and nasal passages. It’s been around for a while but isn’t very well known,” she said. “It can really expedite the patient process. It’s a great way for physicians to respect their patients’ time, especially if they’re not feeling well. I’m a huge believer in leveraging technology so that we make the patient as comfortable as possible.”

Dana has a certificate in weight-loss management which she uses for a part-time personal training gig. Preventative approaches are her bread-and-butter.

“The body and mind are one. They’re inseparable,” she said. “I love yoga for my patients, and I emphasize clean eating. When you’re stressed, your immune system is more at risk for severe illness. Everything’s connected,” she said.

Last, but not least, Dana recently authored a book titled The Happiness Journal: Happiness is a habit…, which can be found on Amazon here.
