Lynnewood Hall Preservation Foundation shares photos, findings from the wine cellar

The Lynnewood Hall Preservation Foundation released photos and findings from a recent visit to the property’s wine cellar, located in the basement of the masnion.

According to their post, the Foundation looked at the full list of alcohol from the time of Joseph Widener’s passing in 1943.

“All are listed with the prices given at the time, it’s fun to convert them to current day values. The total value of the wine cellar equates to $290,968.13 in 2024,” the post said.

The Foundation additionally shared prices from a 1943 valuation and offered an inflation conversion tool:

  • 690 Bottles Imported Gin (Finton, Booths, Coates and Nicholson): $2,518.50
  • 58 Bottles Pernod Absinthe: $406.00
  • 12 Cases of Chartreuse: $972.00
  • 4 Cases French Vermouth: $77.27
  • 260 Bottles Veuve Clicquot – 1920 Vintage: $840.00
