Lower Moreland police arrest man with several active warrants, stole $1.7K in cigarettes from Huntingdon Valley Wawa

The Lower Moreland Police Department announced the arrest of Mohemmed Masad for stealing $1,733.28 worth of cigarettes from the Wawa at 2500 Philmont Avenue in Huntingdon Valley.

On December 6, at 01:27am, Lower Moreland officers responded to a theft in progress at the Wawa at 2500 Philmont Avenue. A manager told police that a male went behind the cashier’s counter and stole 16 cartons of Newport 100s.

The suspect bypassed all points of sale, exited the store, and failed to render payment.

Further review of the video surveillance revealed a dark gray Nissan sedan with heavy tint entering the Wawa parking lot at 12:49am.

The suspect was described as a white or olive skin-toned male wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with red writing on the front, dark colored pants, dark colored shoes, and wearing a backwards gray and red colored baseball cap.

On December 10, at approximately 12:35am, Lower Moreland officers were patrolling the parking lot of Wawa when they observed a gray Nissan Altima parked at one of the pumps. A check of the vehicle’s registration revealed the registered owner to be Mohemmed Masad.

He was wearing the same outfit on the day of the commission of the theft.

Masad was taken into custody and he admitted to stealing the cartons of cigarettes from Wawa. He also had several active warrants from other jurisdictions, police said.
