Lower Moreland police arrest 61-year-old man after near head-on collision with officers | Upper Moreland police release details of three recent arrests

The Lower Moreland Police Department announced the arrest of Troy Broadus, 61, on Monday, June 10, after he allegedly attempted to flee and elude police pursuit in the area of Philmont Avenue in Huntingdon Valley.

According to the department, officers were on patrol when they noticed a small white compact Chevrolet pull around the left side of a vehicle, at which point the car went into the center median and partially into the opposite lane of traffic, nearly running head-on into a Lower Moreland police car.

Officers reported that they immediately applied their brakes and swerved towards the curb line to avoid a collision. The Chevrolet took off “at a high rate of speed” and the officers activated their siren to initiate a traffic stop.

After attempting to flee and elude police, the vehicle stopped and the driver was placed under arrest and identified as Broadus.

While taking him into custody, officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from the open window of the driver’s door. Further investigation revealed Broadus was in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. 

His charges are below:

In related news, the Upper Moreland Police Department announced the details of three recent arrests:

April McGuire

McGuire, 34, of Hatboro was arrested on June 11 at 3:25am, for Driving Under the Influence.

During a traffic stop at Easton and Ellis roads in Willow Grove, McGuire was found to be operating a motor vehicle while impaired, police said. 

Donald Banks

Banks, 46, of Hatboro was arrested on June 5 at 4:00pm for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Police said a 9-1-1 call alerted officers to a suspicious vehicle in the Willow Grove Shopping Center parking lot. Officers discovered Banks in the vehicle in the process of ingesting suspected narcotics. 

Anthony Cooper

Cooper, 24, of Philadelphia was arrested on May 29 at 12:40pm for Possession of small amount of marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia following an investigation for a suspicious person.  at 1056 Easton Road in Willow Grove, police said.
